How to start an exercise program to be prepared for a Walkathon

A training regimen is a great way to get in shape if you are looking to turn over a new leaf or it can also be a way to make a sports team you have been striving for your whole life. Before you begin you rigorous exercise program make sure you are in good health before doing so. You should consult your doctor before doing anything too difficult. This is best practice to make sure you don’t have any health conditions you were unaware of.

Train on a daily schedule.

The next step in the process is to make sure you train on a daily schedule. Getting your body clock on a schedule every day enables you to build cardiovascular endurance and makes your muscles more accustom to the exercise. This is important to prevent injuries.

If you want to do an event like a Walkathon you need to prepare well for that too. This may seem easy because it is just walking, but people can get injured during and potentially after if you don’t train in the appropriate ways.

When you are training make sure you increase your distance that you walk by 10% each day. By doing this you can build up enough stamina and muscles to get through the walkathon. In addition to the adding of distance every day, you need to make sure you are on a day-on day-off schedule.

This schedule enables you to give your body a rest between days of training to prevent injury.

Do the appropriate stretches.

All of this training is great for the walkathon and the ability to complete your goals. To make sure you don’t pull anything during the walkathon you need to make sure you are doing the appropriate stretches as well.

Make sure you are stretching your hamstrings out, along with your quadriceps. This is important so you don’t pull either one. Another important stretch is the calf stretch. This is important so after words you aren’t hurting nearly as bad.

Drink water and get appropriate shoes.

To finish off this exercise tip, you need to have two pairs of walking shoes and you need to drink plenty of water. Both of these are essentials to the completion of your goals.

If you don’t have the appropriate shoes your feet will get blisters. If you don’t have water then you could get very sick. These are musts in accomplishing your goals.

Protect your skin from the sun.

If you work out outdoors you need to be protected always from the sun, and specially your skin. In this case you could use sun protectors creams, hats or sun protection arm sleeves
